What is a Directo Account?
A Directo Account is a low-cost, FDIC-insured bank account established in your name. It is unique from traditional checking accounts because all deposits and withdrawals are made electronically. Deposits into the account are made by direct deposit of your payroll by your employer. Withdrawals can be made at any ATM 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All that's needed to access the account is your Directo Card and your personal identification number (PIN). You can also use the Directo Card to make purchases and get cash back at grocery stores and retailers like Wal-Mart and Target. The Directo Card can even be used to purchase money orders and get cash back at the U.S. Post Office. Think of the Directo Account as a “checkless” checking account. You can never overdraw your account or “bounce” a check.

What type of credit qualification do I need to receive a Directo Card?
There are no credit qualifications to participate in the Directo program. If your employer offers direct deposit of payroll, you're pre-qualified for a Directo “checkless” checking account. Directo offers an individual account to anyone, regardless of their previous credit history.
Is Directo FDIC-insured?
Yes. Each account is insured up to $100,000.

Can the Directo Card help me rebuild my credit?
Yes. Although Directo does not report to any agency, upon several months of maintaining your account in good standing, you may request that we send a report of satisfactory activity to credit agencies.

What is the Directoplus Visa Card and how do I get one?
The Directoplus Visa Card expands the capability of your existing Directo account, allowing you to sign for purchases. It is not a credit card. If you qualify for a Directoplus Visa Card, it will automatically be sent to you. Qualification is based on age of account, account status, and number and amount of deposits. Does a Directoplus Visa Card cost more?
No. There is a nonrefundable $25 fee to participate, but the monthly account fee and transaction fees are the same, and your account number remains the same. Signature transactions are FREE, and you'll save hundreds of dollars a year using your card to shop at the stores you're already using, plus, use it online! The Directoplus Visa Card is not a credit card. You'll have access to your account funds and if you are enrolled in the Emergency Cash program, you'll have access to your monthly emergency funds, too. You can take advantage of the cash advance option at bank teller windows, and gain access to all of your funds with a single free signature transaction!
What happens to my old Directocash card?
Your PIN-based Directocash card remains functional unless you destroy it. Some people like the security of having an extra card, especially one with the safely of PIN-only function.
Will I be able to use my Directoplus Visa Card at ATMs?
Yes. You will be mailed a PIN for your card separately. You may also choose another PIN when you call to activate your card.
What happens if I change my mind?
Directoplus Visa Cards are automatically sent to eligible customers -- the participation fee applies only if card is activated. The activation information is on the card -- just one toll-free call opens a world of possibilities for you. If you don't wish to participate, simply destroy the unactivated card, and your Directo account remains unchanged.
When will I have access to my money?
Your deposit is available for withdrawal on the day your provider releases your funds.
Can use checks with my Directo Account?
No. Checks written against the Directo account will not be honored. Each Directo account is a “checkless” checking account, activated by the Directo debit card.
Can I use my Directo Card in stores?
Yes. the Directo Card can be used at any PIN-based point of sale (POS) device that shows the STAR symbol. Please note that for your security, the Directocash Card is not signature based. If you qualify, you will be sent a Directoplus Visa Card, which can be used to perform signature-based transactions.

What is Bill Pay and how does it work?
You can pay bills with your Directo Account, and there's never a fee! Save money on money orders and stamps, and save time by signing up for automatic or electronic debit on your utility bills, car payments, and loan payments. Any ACH (Automated Clearing House) debit can be used. Ask your creditors how you can sign up for electronic debit using your Directo account.

What is the Emergency Cash option?
Directo's Emergency Cash option is available to qualified account-holders. This special overdraft privilege allows you to cover unanticipated expenses up to a certain dollar amount, for a flat fee. With no high interest charges or hidden fees, Emergency Cash lets you keep your account in good standing, while extending you the money you need.**

How do I use my Directo Account to transfer money to a family member in another city or country?
You can easily and inexpensively transfer funds from one Directo account to another with a telephone call to the toll-free Customer Care number,  877-242-0994. Transfers must be authorized by both parties.

What if my card is lost or stolen?
Remember your money is safe with Directo because without your PIN number no one can use your card to access your money. If you lose your card, call Directo's toll-free customer service number as soon as you notice your card is missing. The customer service number is listed on the literature that accompanies your new card. Directo will immediately block the old card and send you a new one. Your account number will remain the same.
 
Can I withdraw all my money, even if it's an odd amount?
To withdraw all the funds in your account, take out as much as possible from an ATM (remember, ATM machines are filled with large denomination bills, the smallest usually a $20) then go to a retail point of sale (POS) such as at a supermarket, buy something small, and pay for it with your Directo Card, asking for the odd amount left in your account as cash back. Remember to leave enough in your account to cover your transaction fee! POS terminals have set dollar amounts preprogrammed to give as cash back, but you can type in any amount that you want.

Is my online application secure?
Yes. Directo uses layers of encryption to make sure your data is safe. Directo does not sell or share your information with anyone.

How long does the online application take?
You can apply in minutes. You will receive your Directo Card and information on how to manage your account about five days after Directo receives your fax or mailed information.

What information do I need to apply for the Directo Card?
You will need to provide a photocopy of a state-issued photo ID (such as a drivers license) and proof of residency (such as a utility bill in your name), and a paycheck stub or benefits award letter.
How do I know which Directo Account is best for me?
Do you use your account frequently? Then the best value for you is the Free and Easy Plan, which includes free transactions. You can change your plan after three months by calling customer service.

Can I check on the status of my application?
Yes. Email your inquiry to support@directocash.com.

When can I begin using my account?
You will receive your card about five days after Directo receives your enrollment information and proof of your identity. You will also receive a form that looks like a voided check, which you MUST take to your employer or benefits provider. It lists your account number and your bank routing number. Your employer or benefits provider can tell you when your direct deposit will start.

When will I have access to my payroll?
First thing in the morning on your designated pay date.

How do I get my employer to start using Directo?
Your Welcome Kit will contain a form with a "voided check" graphic containing your account number, your bank routing number, and your name and address. This form is also available by calling Directo. Give this form to your payroll or human resources department and  sign any additional authorization that they might require. If your company has any questions, have them call Directo at (877) 242-0994. If you receive Social Security, VA, Disability or other city, state or Federal benefit, one call to Directo can get you started, (877) 242-0994.

What can I expect after applying?
First, you will receive a confirmation email from Directo with a few tips and reminders. Once you send your Signature Page with the required paperwork to Directo, you will receive your personal card, PIN and Welcome Kit within 10 days. For your security, these items will arrive separately.
